Think of this session as your therapist getting to know you and you getting to know your therapist. The therapist will spend this time answering any questions you have about the therapy process and practice. Also, the therapist will be gathering history about your presenting problem and begin to collaborate with you about therapeutic goals.

It depends on each client. The therapist will begin collaborating with the client on therapeutic goals at the start of therapy. Based on the goals, the therapist might use a variety of approaches such as: Person-Centered, Narrative, Mindfulness-Based, Cognitive-Behavioral, and Internal Family Systems.

It depends on the relationship unit. The therapist will begin collaborating with the relationship unit to decide therapeutic goals at the start of therapy. Based on the goals, the therapist might use a variety of approaches such as: Emotionally Focused Therapy, Family Systems, Integrative, and Gottman.

Sex therapy is an evidenced-based specialized form of counseling that focuses on the sexual health of an individual and relationships. This encompasses a plethora of topics such as: sexual function, pleasure, intimacy, and reproduction.
Sex therapy helps treat those experiencing issues with performance, satisfaction, desire, arousal, or pain with sex. Sex therapy is also a treatment for those with a sexual trauma history, sexual orientation issues, and/or sexual behaviors that are causing distress.
